Photos on websites - Good idea or Bad?

I was browsing the website of a photographer (located in Spencers Wood, Reading) and he has some beautiful work. Mostly seems to do wedding photos, but also does some portrait work, including family snaps and also commercial PR shots.

The last professional photo of myself was taken in 1993, so it is a bit old and I don't even know where it is - not digital photography back then. I've tried doing shots myself, but they turn out terrible.

A picture's worth a 1000 words, or so the saying goes - but for childcare websites, is a picture worth more than that, or is it not important?

Childcarers - Do you include photos on your website?

Parents - Do you like seeing photos of a childcare provider on their website? Better with children, or without?

Your thoughts are appreciated.

Yes, I like that use of photos. It really does seem to help make the website real, as it were.

My website has a photo album and I've only had positive feedback. I like the fact it shows what equipment I have, the sort of messy play the children do, my garden with play equipment, the kids dressing up and playing etc! I need to update mine actually as it's from when I started so a lot at the start were of my own ds. I've now got a playroom as moved house and had different aged mindees so will be including all those photo's. I definitely think parents like to see photo's - I would!

Yes, I include one photo of me on my site .

I hope it makes me appear friendly and open to prospective families.

I think is important to make sure the photos are of good quality, but more natural and informal rather than posed portraits.

Totally agree with gooseegg about photo's being natural and yes, I also have a photo of me and ds on my 'About Me' page and do it for the same reason, hoping that parents think I look friendly etc.
