Someone that i know who is a childminder is on maternity leave. She has passed over her mindees to her sister. It now turns out that her sister is doing this without declaring it to DWP. Also the childminder has only just informed ofsted that she has had a baby and ofsted has said they dont think she can cope with 4 children under 4, so she has appealled.

My biggest concern is that if ofsted come back and say she has to get rid of one of her mindees she is just gonna tell then her sister will be helping her out.

Very concerened as my god-daughter is in her care. It just seems very un-professional.

Any advice??

What does your God daughter's mother/father say?

wurlywurlyCOVEREDinCHOCOLATE · 29/03/2007 13:44

she is very concerned. obviously she wants the best for her daughter, she has been moved from one childminder already, and is very happy where she currently is. She is gonna speak to the minder later and find out what is going on properly. Its just all seems so un-professional.

The riskk you run is if the childminder thinks you complained about her it might affect the care she gives to the children. I think mum talking to the minder is a better approach.

The answer to your original question is YES.

is her sister registered?!?!?!

wurlywurlyCOVEREDinCHOCOLATE · 29/03/2007 14:00

we originally thought her sister was, but it now turns out she isnt.

I reported my sons childminder annonymously to social services for neglect, I was'nt informed of the outcome but I know soon after she was no longer childminding.

wurlywurlyCOVEREDinCHOCOLATE · 29/03/2007 14:03

my biggest concern is that she is gonna tell ofsted that she no longer has one of these children and it will be a huge lie. Surely this will affect her liablity insurance if one of them has an accident.

Yeah, I agree it is sounding rather dodgy. But, I personally wouldn't go and tell ofsted unless I pulled my kid out of her care first.

dmo · 29/03/2007 18:30

doesnt sound to good
dont think her sister should be covering her mat leave without being reg and crb cheaked
did the cm inform the parents in writing that her sister would be coveing mat leave and did it state that sister was not a reg cm?
dont know but i would be cross

"It now turns out that her sister is doing this without declaring it to DWP."

How do you know they are claiming benefits?
There is an on-line form which you can use to notify DWP when you suspect someone of being a benefit thief - Benefit Fraud Form

nannynick, the sister let slip she hasnt informed dwp.

That's it then. An anonymous tip to DWP out to sort it out.

I'm somewhat joking although I must admit I would be very tempted.

I know this maybe a bit different, but I made a complaint about a nursery to Ofsted, annoymous but they still found out it was me, the nursery did somehow I was working there

Rubybees · 01/04/2007 20:21

If in doubt phone them and explain. You won't here the outcome but Ofsted will send a letter saying they take complaints very seriously and are dealing with the complaint.

I'm a childminder and would report another childminder if I knew this was happening its gives childminders a bad name go for it!

daisy26 · 02/04/2007 09:11

or email them as they do respond very quickly
