Lot of ad hoc care, almost feel like a real childminder!

I have children coming and going this week, sadly on an ad hoc basis (within my number of course ) and I almost feel like I would if I had all the numbers I could have. Hopefully I will start to get word of mouth through the ad hoc parents. Fingers crossed!

Oh, wait I have another p/t mindee coming in April for ONE morning a week - just to walk her to school. LOL Almost not worth the time, but I have to walk my own anyway so it's no big deal. I just think the 1.25 hours I am getting from her is hysterical. Oh well, work is work!

you should charge a minimum/or extra for such minimal work like before/after school, i do

At least with people using your service hopefully like you said word of mouth will start bringing some steady business in. Also you may end up with an adhoc child becoming permanent you never know!

I do school run in a morning but it's for siblings so worth my while. If I was only doing it for one child tho think I would also charge a flat rate like pinkchick (nearly wrote ss!) mentioned.

I (like most locally) do a minimum 3 hours a day. If you do 2 or under you don't even need to be registered.

Darn darn darn. You are right, I should have. Oh well, for next time. It's just that the mum doesn't have a lot of money and well, I am way too nice for my own good.

Next time, girls. I should always ask here first eh??

Too right - good point. I am actually most likely going to get 2 afternoon sessions off one of the ad hocs I am doing this week. So it was sort of to sweeten new business.

However, if in future a mum phones up I will do the 3 hour minimum. Good point, thanks for the heads up.

i do before and after school and say they have to attend a min of 3 hours thats only £9 per week

crace · 29/03/2007 12:47

Yeah, totally kicking myself here. But oh well, if in future I will be doing the minimum, and in fact off to change that in my policies!
