How much do childminders cost?

I am looking to sort part time childcare for my baby from January (when he will be 1). I've looked at all of the local nurseries and was just wondering roughly how much childminders charge...and how I find them! Are there any pros to childminders over nurseries or vice versa? Thank you. X

Fees vary.

Contact your local authority Family Information Service for more details about Registered Childminders. findyourfis.familyandchildcaretrust.org/kb5/findyourfis/home.page

Fees vary. I pay £55 for 7.30 till 5.30 at cm including meals, £70 for same at nursery. Thats down south. I have friends in the north that pay a lot less.

It varies from area to area. When I was looking 5 years ago prices ranged from £3/hour to £5/hour locally.
My CM is £5/hour but that includes 3 meals and all activities. We are SE London. This is more expensive then some local nurseries but she is worth every penny.

P.s. Pros to CMs imo are home environment, more varied activities like trips to parks, museums, beach etc. More flexible and longer hours and continuity of care. My Dd has had the same CM for 6 years since she was 1.

We pay £50 per day flat (8am to 6 pm), not including meals. That's in London zone 3.

Mine is £30 a day and she's open from half 7 till half 5. Ds loves it there - though we're term time only so he's home with me at the moment (and up at 645 but we don't talk about that lol)

Mine is £35 a day.

Thanks everyone. I'll definitely try and track down some local ones and look into childminders a bit more before committing to a nursery. X
