Insurance for looking after friends 3 yr old?

Not really sure where to post this so am trying this section!
I am looking after my neighbours nearly 3 yr old for one and sometimes two days a week throughout August (9-3pm). She is paying me a small amount.

Am wondering - Should I a) have any form of public liability insurance in case she gets hurt when with me (hopefully not!) b) tell my insurance company if I take her out in the car?!

It's a short term arrangement to help my neighbour out over the summer really.
Thanks in advance for any advice

If she's paying you, I'm pretty sure you'll need to get business use on your car insurance.

Probably should but the cost may be more than you are paid.

Don't mention payment to anyone, as that can then make you fall under Childminding regulations.

Home insurance covers guests. Motor insurance covers occasional passengers who are not paying a fee to be transported.

I'm sure you're just having a friend's child round to play. If you were getting paid, you would need to register as a childminder etc etc.

Have a chat to your friend about it.

Unfortunately you are not allowed to provide childcare for any sort of reward without being an Ofsted Registered childcare.
In answer to your question, yes you definitely should have public liability insurance but they would only insure you if you were doing something legal Smile
