Camp Beaumont

Am I being unreasonable? I enrolled my 3 year old at camp Beaumont for 5 weeks during the summer holidays (full time as I work 40hours). He goes to a full time nursery during term times.

There was no settling in period, just sign him in and leave. All was well until I picked him up on the first day to be told he kept running away from the group..
3rd day, I get a call to say that he hurt another child with a toy and would be given a first warning, when I picked him up they told me he had been really good all afternoon..
Today is day 4, I get a call to say he's on his final warning (for accidentally hurting a child with a chair - the lady told me it was an accident and my son is not a violent person). They tell me they have a three strike rule, if he receives another he will be excluded. They won't offer a refund under any circumstances, I've paid over £1000 for this camp, I'm so angry at them?

My son isn't an angel, but I really don't feel like they've tried to help him settle in? As a single parent, I cannot afford to be £1000 out of pocket with no childcare options. I spoke with head office twice and they won't refund the money. Any advice on where to go from here?

Incompatibility as they call it, is mentioned in the booking terms. So not sure you can do anything about it.

Is there a group leader at the venue that is responsible for the under 5's... are they worth talking to about what measures they are taking to make reasonable adjustments to your sons needs (the fact that he is 3 years old and thus one of the youngest in the group?).

Could you check terms and conditions as to the settling in? I'm a childminder and wouldn't dream of taking any child without some kind of setting in? Maybe there should have been one and they have been negligent? He's only 3! Normal behaviour in a strange place. Are they ofsted registered?

This seems over the top to me and bloody cheeky with regards to the money.

It's a shit company, I worked with them one Summer.

This happened to us as well - our son was excluded for what sounded like fairly normal small boy behaviour. He is not a violent child. We were also not refunded and were out of pocket almost £1000 (including prepaid swimming lessons) and left with no childcare for several weeks over summer. Beware!

I'm really sorry to hear this. I would consider complaining to OFSTEAD about this.
