Help with childcare

I'm new to all this so have a few questions. I have had more or less a 7 year break from work. My partner earns about 38 grand a year. Don't get any benefits except child benefit. Just wondered as I am starting work from 9-1 Monday till Friday. I need childcare on a Friday and for holidays. Is there any help with childcare? I have heard about vouchers. Or can my partner claim anything through tax. I have heard people talking about them. This is all new. I'm excited about this new job and great hours. Thanks

How many children?

Childcare vouchers are a salary sacrifice scheme - the voucher company take the money straight from your wages, this means you don't pay tax on them which is a saving. There are also tax credits but I don't know much about them.

This calculator will help show if Childcare Vouchers or Tax-Free Childcare is better for your circumstances. You will need to know your expected salary and your expected childcare costs.

The more children you have the more likely I suspect Tax-Free Childcare will be better but lots of factors to consider.

If you only have one child, then Childcare Vouchers are usually better, if both your employers provide them and if you earn enough to be able to get them without it dropping your pay below National Minimum Wage.
