I'm not sure where to post this but thought childminders etc might know what this is about. I have just been reading SureStart and came across a piece about a new parenting academy opening. I'm puzzled by references to "Parenting practitioners" and "the parenting workforce". Can anyone tell me what these terms refer to?

can't help, I'm afraid, but I'm desperately hoping they aren't social workers who have been on a two-day course!

National Academy for Parenting Practitioners

Just been reading the above website, and I'm no more in knowledgeable regarding what a "parenting practitioner" is, or what the "parenting workforce" actually comprises.

It appears to be professionals working with parents, but I am not sure what that would include and exclude. After all, Childminders and Nannies are 'professionals working with parents', as are social workers.

So maybe it means anyone who works with parents? The academy appears to be a centre for organising training for people who give parenting advice and parenting classes. I've never heard the terms before so wanted to see what anyone else knew about them. Thanks for the replies.
