Do nannies get more for looking after two children than one?

Have just given nanny of dd1 a big pay rise, but when dc2 comes does she get another one? At some point dd1 will be off to nursery at least part time, so our nanny won't be looking after both children full time and for first couple of months of dc2s life am going to get a lot of help from mil. I love my nanny and want to do what's right by her and she is so sweet she won't demand a pay rise so need to go elsewhere for advice. Thank you

No, it's not usual for a Nanny to get a pay rise with the arrival of 2nd,3rd,4th child...Nannies are paid by the hour, not per child!

No, nannies I feel are really paid on a per family basis, not per child. Annual pay rise is always appreciated, and if you feel you want to increase salary for caring for more children then feel free to do so.

Just my view.

I don't think a pay raise for a second child is required. But, you should expect some give and take in the duties. I mean if you have only one child then the nanny has more time for nursery duties, laundry, tidying, meal planning, etc. So, you might find an (understandable) reduction in performance. Do you have a cleaner? If not, she might appreciate if you hired one (which might cost you less in the long run than a raise anyway). Or, if she is live-in you could get her something that se doesn't already have (DVD player, computer, new piece of furniture for her room, etc.)
