I think 15K is about right but there is a calculator on the Revenue & Customs website which tells you if it's worth applying or not for tax credits.

All parents of my mindees work for companies that offer childcare vouchers. Would this be an option for them?

dmo · 08/03/2007 22:07

vouchers are a good idea parents can save ££ in tax using them and they are a fab way to get paid

The www.entitledto.co.uk calculator service may be a useful place to suggest they visit, as it will calculate a range of entitlements based on someone's personal circumstances. Chances are though if they both earn above 15k each, then they won't be entitled to much, if anything.

Childcare Vouchers are def worth a look, though their employer has to offer the scheme. But if both of them could get those, then it could save over £1000 a year. Voucher providers often have calculators on their websites, such as www.care-4.co.uk

WTC2 leaflet from HMRC has lots of info - possibly too much! It includes a table which gives total join income amount and the corresponding amount of Working Tax Credit. At some point between £14k and £16k joint income, the amount of WTC goes to Zero.

StrawberrySnowflakes · 09/03/2007 12:27

but even if the working tax is zero surely they should still get something for childcare???
rang my friend alst night, i used to childmind her dd, they get about £40k between them a year and they got £60 per week toward child care cost!??
