I am a childminder
My little girl had chicken pox this week, the mother of the baby i look after chose not to bring her as she didnt want her getting it... she's assuming she won't have to pay, it was her desision not to send her... what do you do? do you still charge?

If I had been the parent I would have been really miffed to have had to pay you, even half pay.

It would certainly alter my relationship with you, and I wonder about your committment to my child's well being tbh

thanks nannynick for that too, my little girl had to stay off school for a week, apparntly incase there are any pregnant women in the school, they said nothing bout the other children, i suppose because they would have been in contact with her for the infectious 5 days before the spots appeared x

sorry i f i misinformed anyone, maybe rules have changed but it used to be notifiable and also under health and safety if a child is ill they have to be kept away until not contagous any longer which would also apply to childminders own children.. i will hav a look under OFSTED and see if ai can see anything but read guidance notes for natioanl standards for health and safety as i`m sure thats where it would come under if not ..[skulks off with tail between legs] but i know when i worked in any educatioanl establishment it was in writing about contagoius diseases and having to keep children aaway plus its common sense really .as you dont know what the parents wishes are a plus the mother may be pregnant and not told you yet or other health issues..my dd was very ill with chicken pox as had secondary infection which can happen as chicken pox really debilitates your immune system as i was told in a&e an dmy dd was given immunity drugs tohelp her fight of anything else tha twas a round ansd i was told to keep her away from other children until her immune system could improve [and my dd doesnt have any problems with immune system..normally ] when my dd had breathing difficulties due to chicken pox as this can be a complication...
