I have mindee 1 for 3 days a week. The days used to change from week to week but now that I have more mindees everyone has to stick to their days a bit more. This week mindee 1 was supposed to come for an extra day today but got a text at 11pm (after I'd gone to sleep) last night to say that he'd be coming for half a day instead. Would you charge for a whole day or just the hours that mindee was here (approx 4 hours)?

i am new at this c/m but if the contract stated 3 whole days then i would charge full day

StrawberrySnowflakes · 06/02/2007 15:03

full day ! but you must make sure their hours are contracted other wise your going to have problems..she texted you last minute, she/they kept their child off=full pay IMO

Bozza · 06/02/2007 15:04

I would say that you should charge for a full day if that is what is contracted. I think that is a rubbish way of letting you know also. I am a parent using a minder not a minder btw. I have told my minder that DS will not be there on 20 Feb but it will still be in my bill.

I would do full day too as that is what was contracted for.. plus that is very last minute!

Another vote for a full day here too as they had already asked you to make yourself available for the extra day. 11PM the night before is not enogh notice to cancel.

Another vote for the full day charge!

They had booked an additional day, and cancelled part of that day with less than 24 hours notice. You are not a Pay As You Go service... while you were kind enough to accommodate their extra day, it was done on the understanding that you would be paid for that extra day, not just the actual hours they decided to bring the child. The space was available and reserved for them!

Thanks, everyone! So next question, how do I tell her?!!! I'm so rubbish at standing up for myself.

she booked you for a full day therefore she pasy for a full day.

Write dowm how much she owes you so you dont get flustered. You could always type her an invoice, i do this it saves a lot of trouble!

mogs0 · 07/02/2007 18:59

Well, as expected, I chickened out and she paid for only the hours she used!!

Do NCMA offer assertiveness classes??!!!

But on the upside I'm having half a day off next week which is one of the contracted days so has already been paid for.

I really shouldn't complain coz I have really fab mindees and the parents are pretty normal too! I was even bought flowers yesterday by one of the Mum's!!
