Hoping someone can help!!

Saw a thread on here ages ago that mentioned where you can buy a first aid kit on the internet suitable for childminders.

Can anyone remind me of the website please cause in my infinite wisdom , forgot to make a note of it!

Many thanks

ANY first aid kit is suitable - u can buy them from any chemist

dmo · 02/02/2007 10:19

as long as you have the basics Ofsted are normally fine
my inspector didnt even ask about my first aid kit

crace · 02/02/2007 11:27

dmo - what ended up happening with your appeal? That inspector is shocking!

Re: First Aid: we got a list when we went on our first aid course that NCMA provided. I can hunt it down later if you like? I had to get some extras that weren't in the first aid kit we bought.

StrawberrySnowflakes · 02/02/2007 14:16

mykidzaremyworld, i was drilled into thinking you were only alowed certain first aid kits when i became reg? or at least you had to chuck out some things and replace with others?, i got mine free from ncma

star1976 · 02/02/2007 14:24

Thanks. Have my first proper inspection next month (said not supposed to give this much notice but have anyway, hope that means she's a nice one) and am desperate for everything to be perfect 'just in case'.

Well things are different in England so i can only comment for Wales. But we were told on our course just to get a basic first aid kit and was more than ok'ed by inspector...best check if in england with ncma

i could do with a travel one really cos im always out with them and dd went A over T last week and i could have cleaned it up had i been better preapred

dmo · 03/02/2007 19:15

ofsted inspector marked a friend down for not having a travel first aid kit in her bag for when they are out and about.
i have one in my pram now and a pack of tissues

gooseegg · 03/02/2007 19:20

I lug a backpack around looking as if I am about to scale Everest whenever we go out for walks. It's got first aid kit, space blankets, travel potty, wipes, gloves, nappy sacks, travel changing mat, diary with all children's contact details, fruit bars and a bottle of water and plastic cups in.
Any other suggestions for contents??

StrawberrySnowflakes · 03/02/2007 19:38

LOL Gosseegg, were you a girl guide!!...heres a tip on something ive just done..i printed a picture off of each of mindees and my dd, then i wrote their name, parents details(name number address etc) who they are ieMindee/daughter, doctors number and special requirements/illness's medical probs and laminated them..so i have them in my bag when ever we go out

so the travel first aid kits..can i make up my own or does it have to be special bag etc? or can i buy like a packed lunch box with compartments in???

gooseegg · 03/02/2007 19:41

Yes I was lol - Patrol Leader of the Scarlett Pimpernels.
The kids tried to add enough sticks to make a bonfire and a huge log that some dog had been chewing to my pack today.

StrawberrySnowflakes · 03/02/2007 19:45

urgh nice!..dd was throwing pebbles into sea today and almost picked up something else a dog left behind> so id have happily had the stick

gooseegg · 03/02/2007 19:51

Yuck ... my travel first aid kit is in a little green pouch with a cross on the front. I can't remember where I got it from. A little airtight plastic clipper box would be perfect. No need for compartments as you wouldn't need to carry very much. Just some assorted dressings and bandages which could be adapted to fit any injury. You only need to be able to stem bleeding and keep covered until either the ambulance arrives (if it's a biggie), or you get home for a proper soapy wash.

StrawberrySnowflakes · 03/02/2007 19:53

right so would an airtight tuppaware type box be skanky?im talking a new one, not one stained with tomato soup from the back of my cupboard?

gooseegg · 03/02/2007 19:57

No, it would be fine and a lot less skanky than portable ambulance bags which are in and out of situations several times a day get
The dressing are packaged to be sterile.
You could always get the mindees to decorate it for you Glitter??

StrawberrySnowflakes · 03/02/2007 19:59

yeah but it might get in the cuts when im trying to dress the wound!!!..plus ill look like a disco diva every time i dip into my bag!...ok, ill pop out for one, so should i have sterile bottle water and that stuff like in home one?, or just dressings etc

gooseegg · 03/02/2007 20:13

That's where my fresh drinking water bottle doubles up
Lol - you'll be looking like a sherpa too soon!!!

GrannyMcShosha · 03/02/2007 20:27

Strawbs got mini id's for my mindees, also got a sticker on back of car saying with emergency number on it. (Its another CM who hold my details she will tell them I have id in my bag)

dmo · 04/02/2007 18:36
