Is this a reasonable childminding cost?

We have found a childminder we like for 4yo DD. We are in the south of England but not London. We need to drop off at 8am and collect at 6pm, but DD will be at preschool for 4 hours of this (CM will drop her off and collect her). CM is quoting £50 per day, not including food. I was expecting less, but does that sound reasonable? Thanks.

Seems reasonable, we're Edinburgh and it's £5-£5.60 an hour for us (depending on whether meals are included or not)

You are asking her to take to a nursery when she could take the funding herself. If you want to save money aske her to use the 15 hours or 11 hours all year around...she wont be paid as much from the council so may say no as some councils pay less than £3-50 an hour in London where some areas normal nursery and childcare rate is £8.

She cant fill those hours so somebody has to pay or she subsidises your choice.

I pay £2.50/hr meals included, however that's massively cheap even up north (leeds) - more likely to pay around £4.50.
I would expect meals to be included in the £50/day though.
