2 Hours for Three days

Hello. I start work on monday again. My dd is at nursery now for these three days, she starts at 8 and stays until 6, it is a long day, bless her. My query is, i think i am going to find it hard to get back to the nursery on time all the time, as i have a distance to travel to and from work, do childminders pick babies up from nursery and take them back to the mom's house, or is that a nanny? And would they accept a job for three days, 4.30 - 6.30? AND would this confuse my dd even more, having to be at the nursery, then seeing someone else, then seeing me? She is 7 months btw.
Any advice greatly appreciated!

As a CM I do this for a boy who finishes nursery at 3.30 and mum picks him up from me at 5.30 doesnt seem to confuse him, he is 4 though, some childminders will some wont depends where you are aswell. Good luck

that seems perfectly reasonable haily i would def do this as a cm. in fact i do this already!

I do a few casual jobs for my friends and they are both 2 hours a couple of times a week.

Haily - you could also see if one of the nursery workers would take her home for you. We've done this a few times with DD when we have an hours gap between the end of nursery and when one of us gets in, and it seems to work well, although it's a one-off type thing rather than a regular committment.

Thank you all for the replies. The main reason was that it is a nursery's policy to inform social services if parents are continuously late. It isnt that i am not punctual. It is traffic!! Ok so next question anyone available in EASTBOURNE??

I shall also ask at the nursery, am i alloud to do this though? They wont get offended right?

One last thing do all childminders to it just at their house?

Thanks

I am in this situation too (started back to work last week) - I have arranged for someone from the nursery to bring my dd back home. I'm not quite sure what they'll do when they are here though - ie whether I'll ask them to start getting her ready for bed or not.

At the nursery my children used to attend, there were at least 3 members of staff who did ' babysitting' which was actually taking children back to their home and waiting for their parents to get back from work..and in one child's case, turning up at his house in the early morning, getting him up and dressed and taking him to nursery..and taking him home at the end of the day.
The nursery manager knew all about it and was fine with it (she also had a list of staff who were looking for conventional babysitting jobs - and made sure they all got paid the same rate)..def. worth asking.

Oh that actually sounds fab, i shall see what they say either tonight or tomorrow. I just didnt want them to think i am trying to 'steal' their workers
