Nanny Requirements

I'm registerering as a childminder and an opportunity has come up to nanny. I'm not too sure what i'd be required to do( outside of actually looking after and stimulating the child). I've heard a lot of nannies are contracted to cleaning and tidy the house, so act as sort of housekeeper as well. Want to know if these are true and also any other requirements that would or could possibly be involved. I'd rather be in the know then get to the interview and think on the spot!!
Help Please!!!!

As a nanny you would usually be expected to care for the children, which includes cooking for them, washing their clothes, keeping areas they use tidy. It will depend on the contract of employment though, as some nannies like me are not great at being tidy (though I have improved a little over the years). So it is really up to you and your employer to determine what is and isn't part of your duties and I suggest that your duties are listed in your contract.

As you are in the process of registering as a childminder, make sure the parents know that you won't be a childminder when caring for their child. That means that they can't use Childcare Vouchers or WTC as a form of payment. As a Nanny (if in England) you need to become Approved by the Childcare Approval Scheme in order to accept vouchers/wtc. Also you are not self-employed as a nanny, so the parents need to operate PAYE, deducting your tax and NI contributions on your behalf, and they pay Employers NICs.
