Have any of you ever minded children of police officers?

The reason I ask is that someone suggested I send my advert to the Police station to see if it generated any leads, just wondered if anyone else has had any experience of this good or bad, thanks in advance

Yes - they work shifts.....can be tricky

My first ever mindie was a dd of a police officer, great at the time as I was starting out & didn't want to do full time minding. So was quite happy to be fexible around the shift pattern. Mum worked full time so if dad was on a late mum picked up etc. Since then I have had another officers child, but as she was a single parent she had managed to arrange 'office hours' to work so that made it easier childcare wise.
I would say no harm in trying, actually it has given me an idea as I have 2 vacancies to fill!

Thanks I have vacancies and there are loads of CM s at my school so was trying to explore other avenues!!!!! My husband does shifts too ( fire brigade) so that doesnt really worry me and sometimes its nice to do different hours each week

It might be worth trying Fire Stations too!

There is a police officers forum somewhere on the web - I found it when I was exploring that avenue - the moderator allowed me to advertise my business for free

My BIL is police and found it really hard to find childminders that would work arounbd his shifts go for it as there is a demand!!

As an ex police officer who went back to work part time after both children , I would say that there is a call for childminders who offer felixible hours.

I used a day care nursery and I worked shifts and on some occassions was not working on the days that they had childcare but I had to have set days at the nusery.

Police officers would also like the felxibilty of knowing that you would be OK if they got held up at work or had to go in on a day that they didn't usually work because of court apperances etc.
