My son

My son is 7 years old and has Autism and global development delay as well as other things. Up until now his tutor has come to our house to do work with him ( half a day 5 days a week). However things are going to change and he will be going to hers for longer hours from 9 -4 .

My question is what should I out in his bag? He has never been away from me due to tragic events that made it difficult to leave him... He is still in nappies and still has a Nap etc and will need to bring his own food, how many nappies should I pack? What else should I pack?

Sorry for the long message, My son doesn't see his mum so I can't ask her for her opinion and we have few family members! Thankyou!

How many nappies a day does he use?

I'm my babies bag I have at all times.

6 nappies, a pack of wipes, nappy bags, hand sanitiser, sudocreme, 2 changes of clothes. Vest, trousers, tshirt, socks

Bag for dumping dirty clothes in

Snacks. Juice cup,

He carries his favourite toy. And blanket. These are security items. So must be accounted for.

In a separate bag. If going to my friends. He has toys, more snacks, something to ground him ie. A tshirt of mine so he can smell me. A photo too. He might need to see me and given I'm a uni student on long hours, I am not always about.

Think about all the things your son needs.

Comfort things, anything he is specifically attached to at the moment. Books, DVDs and toys relating to his current special interest area.
A couple of complete changes of clothes. Always handy to have spare clothing. Change of footwear, such as including welly boots - is there a garden or place they may go for some outdoor time?

Hard to know on nappies number. I would make an estimate for how many you would usually use and then add a couple in as extras.

Does he use PECS or any form of visual timetable? His tutor probably already has all the resources for that but you may need to work together to prepare him for going, so having the visual timetable show each step involved.

Can you leave a bag of nappies at the tutors house? I'm a cm and don't mind parents bringing a bag of nappies to be left at my house so they don't have to be carried back and forth each day and that way it doesn't matter how many we use in a day.

Nappies, wipes, nappy bags, spare clothes, weather dependant clothes, (hat, scarf, gloves, waterproofs, sun hat and cream in the summer). Favourite toy/comfort object if needed. That's pretty much all I ask childminded children to bring with them.
