Hi,
im really interested in becoming a childminder and was wondering if anyone could give any advice on what i need to do, registering etc, I have a 4yr old daughter and have been a SAHM since she was born but now she has started school 5mornings (2 full days) i feel the time is right for me to start working again. the other thing is im only 22 do you think that would be a problem to some parents?
thanks.

Try having a look at the ncma website that will give you loads of unbiased info, and give you an idea what training etc you need to do. You have jump through quite a few hoops but most of it is straightforward, I dont think your age would be a problem but some people are fussy you have to learn not to be offended when they dont want you!!! Good luck !!!

I've recently completed the childminding course. I contacted the local council for an information pack on the childminding course, then attended a briefing session. If you're still interested then you sign up for the course.

I love being a childminder having a 4 yr old and 2 yr old of my own, for me it worked out best to offer help to parents who needed to go out to work. I've been childminding for 3 years started when I was 23 so age is not an issue, every childminder offers somthing different and as long and you keep it business, at the end of the day nurserys etc. have 18 yr olds working don't they!

Good luck in what you choose to do and also good luck to dd starting school (my ds started school in April, straight full time!, and loved it)
