Ds's nanny has handed her notice in. Bum. She's lovely and we all love her! Is going because ds is starting nursery school in Jan. But sessions are only 2.5 hours a day. So now I've got to find a new nanny or a childminder who does nursery pick-up and drop off. Aaarrggh.

We've all been so happy. Sob. Ds is going to be soooooo upset.

Seems an odd reason to leave? Were you shortening her hours? So sorry - I know how difficult it is to have to find a good one again.

edam · 01/12/2006 16:28

No, I wasn't going to change her hours.

Oh buggery, damn, and so on. I am so very sorry.

What a pain. Is there any way you could persuade her to stay? A friend's nanny uses the time her charge is at afternoon pre-school to catch up on chores and to have a proper lunch break. It works really well.

Think I'll call her over the weekend and see if we can arrange a time for a chat. tbh if someone was paying me to do whatever I fancied doing for two hours a day I'd be relieved, not buggering off. Grrr.

Actually, it could be that she's decided she doesn't like working part-time - she does three days for me and two days at a nursery and did ask me about working full-time for me a while ago.

My nanny does the ds's laundary and then either goes shopping or goes to the gym. 2.5 hours isn't that long really and always seems to fly by (well it does for me ). Defintely a good dies to have a chat. Good luck.
