We are going out to a class do tomorrow night and have asked someone who works at dd's school as a classroom/childcare assistant to babysit. She wouldn't give us a rate though so no idea how much to pay ? (dh can't recall what we paid the last one) .

bump ?

It is starting to feel like a very expensive evening what with food, drink, babysitting etc and I now remember why we don't do it often.

My dds charged £5/hour - they babysat for children that I childminded.

£5 per hour seems fair
i would be happy with £10, some chocs and a movie

just depends on the hours your out doesnt sound like you will be rolling in from your class at 2am (like i do )

if its only till 10ish just give her a tenner

NannyL · 30/11/2006 22:09

i charge at least £6 oer hour

min wage is over £5 per hour dont forget

I charge £8 ph. People often think they should pay less for babysitting compared to daytime care but it's unsociable hours and a babysitter is still responsible for your children.

I hope you sort it out and can come up with an amount that suits you both!!

ive asked my friends dd to babysit in a couple of weeks. not sure how much she charges but hoppe its not too much. am a little pissed her mum or dad didnt offer to be honest as i have babysat their children loads over the years the favour never having been returned apart from once when my mum was about to die
