Sorry for stupid question but what's NNEB? I'm just starting to look for a nanny and wondered what this qualification was, exactly? Thanks.

Its Nursery Nursing Examinations Board - a 2yr course taken by all nursery nurses and nannies in order for them to qualify as such hope this helps

No Worries and good luck with finding a nanny

Thats what it used to be called. If you have qualified in last 2 or 3 years you would have the qualification, CACHE diploma in Childcare and Education. All means the same thing, you are a qualified nursery nurse.

If it helps, you can find out about some childcare qualifications online at: Children's Workforce Development Council

CACHE took over from the NNEB as the awarding body, so you may find that some nannies have what I have - CACHE Diploma in Nursery Nursing (NNEB). Oh how confusing.

Generally with qualifications it's about the level of the qualification and how much practical experience there was. NNEB is Level 3 equiv, and was done over 2 years with 3 days college, 2 days practical placement per week.

Note: A qualification does not mean the person knows how to change a nappy - that sort of thing is not taught at college! At least it wasn't on my course.
