Hello I am registering my partner as my childminding assistant and he is going to work with me full time.

How should I set up my finances, should I employ him, or should he register as my partner in business? I'm a real novice when it comes to HMRC I just manage to fill out my own self assessment so would like to find the simplest solution!!

TIA X

When my partner was made redundant they registered as a cm in their own right. Assistant registration was too limiting for us with the 2 hour sole care rule. Already had the basics in place as had been registered assistant for ages ie first aid, safe guarding. Ofsted didn't insist on a pre registration course and took around a month to register.

So he became self employed also?

Yes self employed in own right. Separate self assessment tax forms etc

Same as my dh. Childminder with his own registration.
