Please can someone tell me their experience of cost/hr NET for a nanny hired for nanny share. Someone we interviewed is asking for £16/net which seems a little high.

Also, how much is the nanny payroll?

Nanny payroll provides charge various amounts, typically around the £150 a year mark. See www.payefornannies.co.uk who my boss has happily used for many years.

Do not agree a Net salary, always agree Gross. Net is like writing a blank cheque as taxcodes can change and back payment of taxes and things like student loans can be taken directly from pay.

Hard to know what rate a nanny share would be. £14 gross is certainly possible for some parts of London. Are there any other jobs in the area which are similar and thus you can compare?

Have you and the other family decided how much you can afford? Instead of having people come for interview without knowing the salary, why not tell them how much the salary will be - then interview those who are willing to work for that amount.

£16 Net if a 10 hour day, 5 days per week, taxcode 1060L, is almost £59,300 gross per year. With Employers NI a little over £7,000 plus then activity expenses, mileage, could result in a cost to the employer of £70,000.

Have a play with a payroll calculator. www.uktaxcalculators.co.uk/salary-calculator.php

Live Out Nanny London (from NannyJob.co.uk) - might be useful to see what a nanny working for one family could get paid, then add on a bit.

I have sent you a pm.

I'm a nanny with ten years experience I would be asking for £14 net ph for the share Which would obviously be converted into gross.

Bunnyhipsdontliegrl · 05/05/2015 00:04

The going rate is £12 net an hour for a nannyshare. £16 is insane (as is £14, but if you find people ready to pay that, why not Wink ).

Yerazig · 05/05/2015 10:04

I don't think £14 is to extreme I don't know where you are based bunnyhips. But I see plenty of London based jobs (where I work) for just one family for £12 net ph.

Artandco · 05/05/2015 10:07

I think £14-16 net is the going rate for a nanny share. Most jobs around here are £12 net for one nanny job, and a share is usually a few ££ more. It works out £7-8 net per hr per family so still cheaper than one individual

Nannyme22 · 05/05/2015 10:09

It depends where you are. I'm in Central London and on £11-£12 net an hour for single family so I certainly wouldn't accept less than that for a share! I think £16 is about right that's £8 net per family that's a big saving!

thanks everyone for your comments. It is helpful to know the ball park. I did not think to discuss figures in gross. Mr Anchovy calculator is also useful to use current tax year calcs.
