Got a phone call at 7:35 another employee got it too - Oh BU&&ER we will have to close - for the 1st time in 3.5 yrs

Nightmare situation - phone parents not yet on route, spoke to parents from bedroom window when they arrived.

So

I have to pay the staff that are still well
& I guess I still pay the staff that are ill

I have to refund the parents todays money

I wonder if that should be a chq next week or money off Decembers bill

I run a playgroup, and I do not pay staff who are off.

We had the situation last year when we had to close for a couple of sessions, and the ones that were well, I paid, and the ones who weren't didn't get paid.

After 3 days they so onto SSP.

Katymac · 03/11/2006 10:41

It will only be for one day (it's 24hrs) so we will all be fine on Monday

It seems unfair that 2 staff get a paid holiday and the others don't

They won't get ssp as it is only a day

I know what you mean!

I generally don't pay them as then they take less sick off.

Heartless - well, yes I suppose it is, but then again it is a business. You loose money if you can't open don't you?

Katymac · 04/11/2006 06:40

& I'm still ill now

I always think that when parents try and send their sick child (although no ones tried to do that in a while) that they will sorry if I catch it!
Still can't decide whether to carry on when we move. Can I really start again with a new group of children? all the hassles that come with settling them all together? I get pangs when I watch the children sometimes atm that I am doing the wrong thing, I have had the same group for a year now and they are like siblings- I have have the youngest for 18mths and the rest for 2+ years so they are used to me and 'my ways'

StrawberryMoon · 04/11/2006 19:45

oh KatyMAc, i know how you feel..im just recovering after 7 days of it..doc gave me anti biotics in end to treat internal inflamation as i was so sore and tender.

i would say pay the staff who were well but not those who wern't(but dont know what youve put in their contract?)..like cm'ding..if you are avaailable to work you charge, if not you dont..youre not getting paid and will actully be out of pocket,so dont sell yourself short..hope you feel better soon

Katymac · 04/11/2006 19:53
