£100 per week for 50 hours sole charge of a 2 year old. Surely this isn't acceptable?

Gulps... Live in slave? Our aupairs don't get paid much by uk standards but they get many perks, car, fuel, phone, 24 hrs a weeks, theme park pass, ...
Maybe this aupair gets similar? Wink

Have you reported it?
Gumtree are very good at taking things down very quickly if they're not acceptable.

fluffymouse · 09/04/2015 11:53

I have reported it, it is rather disappointing to see the frequency of these ads though.

You will be half paid for the handover week. Cheeky buggers! [Shock]

fluffymouse · 09/04/2015 19:31

I also thought that was very cheeky ebb That will be £50 for 50 hours then.

After the advert I found I suppose we should all feel pleased that this position is paid at all ... Hmm

I just can't believe anyone thinks this is ok. £2 an hour! Sole charge! (And don't get me started on my assumptions about parents who write about how exceptionally 'CLEVER' and 'ACTIVE' their child is without any sense of irony or self-awareness...!)

I think that some families really believe that if people will apply for a position, then that must mean it's acceptable. And believe that looking after their child is such a privilege that anyone should be pleased to do it, for almost no money!

ArcheryAnnie · 10/04/2015 15:17

They are still referring to their two-year-old as "the baby".

When would this slave beloved employee get a chance to take up the courses mentioned at the college? She's going to be knackered.

ArcheryAnnie · 10/04/2015 15:19

Also this "baby boy" is " highly loved". Where are all the ads, I ask myself, looking for childcare for children who are "quite liked" or "barely tolerated"?

AnimalsTwobyTwo · 11/04/2015 12:22

It's still there - I have reported the ad as well, totally illegal!

fluffymouse · 11/04/2015 13:56

well done animals. It is shocking what people think is acceptable.

I have just found someone on childcare looking for an 'au pair' for their 10 month old for 50 hours a week. I have sent them a message explaining that they may wish to amend their advert to say nanny not au pair as too many hours, too young a child/much sole charge etc.
