I have had a few irksome things in the past fortnight (I have two very opinionated little ladies who are highly amusing but often boredom on irksome!) Here are a few of their best in the last fortnight:
-You must be rich to get your kitchen done and go on holiday (my oh remortgaged for the kitchen and our holiday cost ?80 at haven - her family are off to florida in new year!)
-At least you got a lie in this morning (my little boy got me up at the crack of dawn anyway and at least I would have been paid if I had mindees here)
-It must be nice to sit at home while we are all at school (my DS is 2 and I have a three yr old mindee part time)

  • My mum never buys own brand food its disgusting (she drinks my nettos cordial and eats my smartprice fruit quite happily)!
They say nice things too btw but wow! Is this parental opinion do you think?

I think it's just children, really. They're marginally less irritating when they're your own.

lol

today I've had a comment about killing your wife with a silencer (no joke) a rather crude sex comment, oh and occasionally I get a 'you earn loads my mum pays you xxx a week'

Somedays I just love my job!

KaySamuels · 01/11/2006 19:21

yes I get those kind off the boys mostly lunavix! am used to boys tho, girls took me by surprise when I started childminding! They are sweet girls, just very opinionated - one told me my hair suited me better down the other day and took my hairband out! lol

girls tend to make personal comments don't they 'your kitchen is much smaller than ours' and ' why do you use xxx this is much better'

KaySamuels · 01/11/2006 19:34

Yes I have had also my mum has a squidgy tummy just like yours, is that photo before you had xx you both look skinny and happy, why don't you get takeaway for tea like we do and yes, we have a nice big new house!! There are days I have to bite my tongue and days I just laugh out loud!

Aren't all kids like this though? I've often wanted the ground to swallow me up after some of the things ds1 has said. He was very articulate very young and was able to voice his thoughts very well before he was old enough to understand tact! He's very polite now though!

One of my 3 year old mindees once said to me when I opened the door in the morning 'hello, why is your hair messy'! - She had only ever seen me with straightened hair and on this morning I had left it curly'ish' - I did chuckle to myself....

KaySamuels · 01/11/2006 20:51

yes definately across the board like crypt monkey says until they learn about tact can have some moments!

"I don't have to wash my hands at home"
"My mum says I don't have to"
"I don't eat x,y,z ..."
"Have you got any [anything that you haven't got]"
"I always have chocolate at home"
"My mum always gives me crisps"

Another niggle is the dawdling/continuing to play when mum/dad is waiting to take them home.

But there are some nice comments too.
5 year old mindie asked me thoughtfully yesterday "Did you have a nice time today while I was at school?" and noticed ds's new haircut "I like your hair". And I just love the 11 year old who always empties her plate entirely; doesn't matter what veg I decide to serve and she often gives compliments too.
