...(or paper towels or warm-air hand dryer!) I'm wondering how to organise what could be 6 to 8 hand towels in my relatively small downstairs cloakroom. Anyone got this sorted?

I have a paper towel dispenser on the wall in my small bathroom (shower room) with a bin on the floor underneath. This works really well, my dh got the dispenser for me from work & I buy the towels in bulk from Makro. One box yestrerday with about 24 pkts in I think, cost me £10.49 plus VAT, of course it's an allowable expense. At paper towels are bio degradeable & save on the cost of washing hand towels all the time.

I have a container full of tesco value flannels (20p each)in the bathroom and toilet.
Each child takes a clean one each time they need to dry themselves and then puts it into a flip top bin beneath the sink.
At the end of each day I empty the bin and wash the flannels. They don't amount to any more cloth than a standard large towel would.
Ofsted inspected me last week and were happy with my system.

My goodness. What on earth will they think of next? Perhaps their very own personalised bubble in which to go to school.

"Will my child have her own hand towel?" is one question I never would have thought to ask a potential childminder.

And how are you supposed to stop Johnny from using Susie's hand towel?

i only have after school children at the moment. would i need seperate towels for all of them? i change the hand towel in the bathroom and the kitchen everyday. whats the problem with them all using the same towel to dry their hands on?

StrawberryMoon · 30/10/2006 20:46

i didnt know this was a requirement but my inspector was impressed when i said we all have separate hand towels and id also do this for mindees??

kidsrus · 30/10/2006 20:56

amphion i bought face flannels and use the suction type hooks which can be removed at the end of the day. I also sew the childrens names onto the flannel or depending on the child you could get them to do it.
I didn't think it was compulsory though but it does help towards you final rating.
I also have a drinks bottle for each child which they all have different patterns and each child knows who's is who's.
