Need a Temporary Nanny in London - is this realistic?

Hello!! Our lovely nanny has to leave suddenly and I am now needing to hire a new nanny to start as soon as possible, but only for six weeks. For family reasons we wil not need childcare as of the beggining of April.

Do you think somebody will be interested in working only during six weeks? It can be a full day or just after school hours (3-7.30). I will need an experienced person who can hit the ground running and does not need any training and hand-holding, but I worry that all the experienced and good nannies will not want to work for such a short time.

The nanny will need to look after an 8 month old baby, 2 year old and 5 year old after school. Where is the best place to advertise? I worry that the agency fees will be disproportionately high for the short contract period, but I may just need to pay for that as I really have no option....

Many thanks in advance, and if you have some recommendations please do send me a message and I will be really grateful!

Thanks!!

Have used Kiwioz nannies in the past for temps. Also needed someone to hit the ground running.

Renovatinghouse · 04/02/2015 22:04

Thanks! Is kiwioz an agency? Will look for it now.

Have sent a message to Kiwioz, fingers crossed! Juggling: Did you have a good experience with the kiwioz nannies? Do you have any suggestions for choosing? Thanks!!

You could try a night nanny agency. They are generally temps and presumably some are happy to work in daytime as well

JugglingChaotically · 04/02/2015 22:50

They do great temps. Have used them a couple of times when nanny sick.
Experienced nannies just arrived from auz or NZ happy to take temp work while looking for something perm.
I would choose someone with lots of bounce that you like.
Ignore £ temps are extortionate but it's only for a few weeks and worth every cent in my experience !!

Sure you will find aomeone

I do this (and night nannying) looks at sleeping bubs :) but in kent

Agencies fees vary but possibly looking at £75 + a week via an agency

We've used KiwiOz for longer term nanny and v happy with them. Cost is big though!

Renovatinghouse · 05/02/2015 00:08

Thanks! Yes, it is only for a few weeks so I suppose that the cost is reasonable if they guarantee experienced and friendly nannies. I have plenty of stress with work and travel already so I am sure it will be worth every penny. Thanks again : )

It depends who's just arrived but they tend to have lots of girls through their books - Good luck!

JugglingChaotically · 05/02/2015 22:20

Any luck renovating?

Renovatinghouse · 05/02/2015 23:48

I sent a message to kiwioz and they have not replied to me yet. Meanwhile I published an add in a childcare website and got several replies from promising candidates. I will meet some of them while I wait for the agency to get back to me. Thanks for asking : )

Word of mouth is always worth a go - often other nannies know people who are between nanny jobs

We have used that option and also www.nappyvalleynannies.co.uk/ which might work for you depending on your location

I found buttons nanny agency good for temps and too expensive.

superram · 06/02/2015 00:02

NOT too expensive, sorry.
