Thinking of a nanny share with another family across the road.

Is the following realistic or are we kidding ourselves?
Mon-Fri 8am-6pm, £11 per hour BEFORE tax

Four girls:

Two girls aged 5 (both in reception)
22 month old
12 month old

We are based in London.

By before tax you mean what?

Agree a Gross salary. £11 gross would be on low side for London. The hours are nice though so could be very appealing to someone.

£11 gross is low.

Average nanny wage gross is £13 in London. Nanny shares usually more due to hassle for nanny of dealing with x2 different families needs

So I would say £14-15 gross. That's about £11-12net.

DearGirl · 17/01/2015 16:52

I think both families should factor in £8per hour gross.

OutragedFromLeeds · 17/01/2015 17:03

It could work well. £11ph gross is far too low. £11ph net is better, but possibly a bit low for a nanny share with 4 children, with 2 under 2.

School time will be fine, but you might want to think about putting the older two into some sort of activity/club for part of the day during the school holidays.

£11 gross per hour for a nanny share is a joke. I don't know who would accept that. I think £14 gross is a minimum.

SuperDuperJezebel · 18/01/2015 09:55

I do a nanny share in South London and am paid more than £11 net, let alone gross. I think most nannies I know working for only one family get at least that.

TiggerLillies · 18/01/2015 10:07

I was paid more than that working for one family, so yes - it is on the low side.

You probably could find someone willing to accept these terms but as they say 'you get what you pay for' and I imagine they won't be very well qualified /experienced.

Average nanny share cost in London is £12 Net...

Four children of 5 and under is alot, especially in the school holidays.

Greenfizzywater · 19/01/2015 14:46

Going rate in London is £10 per hour net for a single family, which works out (for those hours and assuming a normal tax code) £12.62 gross. Total for a nanny share is usually more than that.

FWIW a friend of mine was unable to find anyone to look after her 4 children (6,3,1,1) and she offered £12 per hour net.

I pay £10 per hour net for two children, one is in school and one in morning preschool.
