hi all

Im a CM and looking to get rid of the carpet in my living room for something new

Problem is I dont know whether to get carpet or wood flooring?

Wood flooring is more hygienic(how ever spelt) but constant cleaning & cold

carpet is warm but once dirty hard to get cleaned properly

can I have your personal opinions pls?

I would have carpet...wooden is too cold for crawling babies imo. just make a resolution that you will get it properly cleaned e.g. shampoo vacuum every couple of months or if you did have wooden perhaps you could get a big fluffy rug for the children who have to sit on the floor.

i have carpet in my living room, it was stain treated and has done very well considering. i dont think i would have wooden incase of slipping and constant cleaning tbh.

i always have wipeable surface sin my dining room though as food stuck in carpet is not nice.

btw children are not allowed food or drinks in my lounge (which is right next to my dining room so not far to go and get a drink, eat etc.

We have laminate flooring now-had carpets in previous house. I would definitely go for wood. It's not that cold to the touch if your house is heated anyway and sooo much more practical. Think of the potty training, sick, drinks, flying food, dribble, wet and muddy feet/buggy wheels-need I go on? Scrubbing carpets and then waiting for them to dry is not fun-nor is watching your lovely new carpet looking grotty after only six months!

I used to have carpet but have now got wood flooring. Ive got a big thick rug which covers most of it which I have down when babies are there and put away if older children are there.
I liked having a carpet because its warmer and softer to fall on, but Ilike the wooden floor better cos I couldnt handle mindees sweaty feet being all over the carpet and then my baby dropping things on it and picking it up and putting in his mouth. (I know it wont do any harm and theres no sweaty feet monsters going to attack him )
Then again I cant eat or drink anything if some of my mindees have even so much as brushed past my plate, and when I go on holiday I take my own cutlery and plates etc and throws to cover seats etc cos I hate the idea of people I havent seen touching things before me.
I think wooden floors better after all that.

I have wooden floors and have a large rug in my lounge so that mindees can sit and play on it (we have 2 rugs actually, we have 1 down and take the other to be cleaned then when other one is dirty do the same again IYSWIM). We also have wooden floor in dining room and it is all so easy to keep clean cos paint/food/drink just wipes off.
