NVQ advice

Hi, it's been ages since i've been to this site - have been reading loads of threads & have found it very addictive & informative.

I have been childminding for several years now and am thinking of doing my NVQ. I was wondering roughly how long it takes? which one would suit best to childiminding? and how difficult / time consuming it is? Like most of you out there once the working hours are done, house tidied, paperwork sorted there isn't much time left so I don't want to overstretch myself.

Thanks for any advice.

I am childminding and doing my NVQ3 in childcare and development.

It is nothinglike it used to be as they now want you to write less, and observe you more so that it is practical rather than theory that gets you through.

I started in March, and should get 5 out of 9 units signedoff next time I get assessed.

Worth doing, and to be honest as a cm, you do most of the things anyway. It is easier for us than as a nursery worker where you are part of a team.

Go for it. It is not too hard, and I do about 4 hours a week in total, but have had 8 weeks off doing anything through morning sickness!!
