How much to pay a Nanny in Woking??

I'm currently looking for a nanny to look after my 2yo and 6mo for 25 hours a week (5 hours a day, 5 days a week). How much am I looking at? My sister pays her nanny £13 gross an hour but she is Central London. We are looking for someone with a couple years experience which obviously has an impact on salary.

I would say £13 gross still as you only want very part time hours. Most are paid more per hour part time as hard to fit in another job. Usual nanny hours are 50-60+ a week

I am in that area and salaries seem to vary between £9 and £12 gross, though your low number of hours per day will make a difference. You could well be looking at higher due to the part-time aspect.

What can you afford? Advertise at a rate you can afford and see what interest you get. Depending on when those 5 hours occur, it may suit someone who does not need to earn a lot and thus whom might accept a salary of say £10-£11 gross.

NannyJob: Job Search - Part Time, Surrey, Live Out
Looking at the current search results, £10-£13 gross looks like the range on offer. Your job needs to be attractive compared to other jobs in the area, so look at what others are offering.

I would also say £13 p/h gross is quite standard in surrey (unless you're offering perks such as a car etc). Would you consider nanny with own child? That usually drops salary by around 20%

What are the 5hrs ie 8-1 or 1-6 or 10-3 etc or can you be flexible for the right person

Think you may find it hard as normally nannies need whole days unless have another part time afterschool job

Saying that a nwoc might be a good option tho means could have 3 under 3 or 3 under 5 if being along and can they cope with the mixes ages!

You might find someone with school age child if they could do 9.30am-2.30pm and bring own child during the holidays.

We are willing to be flexible so it could be an ideal job for someone with a school aged child- maybe not someone with a job after school as we will still need the cover in the holidays. I'm self employed and work from home and i'm happy to fit in with childcare if it's going to make it a little easier and less expensive.

Might have to consider childminder or nursery as think it will be cheaper!

Yes a childminder or nursery could well be cheaper if available for the hours/days you need. Surrey Family Services Directory

With two children, a nanny is often a bit more expensive but a nanny does things beyond childcare and will do times that other providers may not.

So you need to look at the pros and cons of the various types of care available and see what meets your need.

As you work from home you need to think carefully about having a nanny, as you will need to be able to isolate yourself away from the rest of the house to do your work without the children disturbing you.

A couple of things to consider:

Drop off & driving time for nursery/CM?
Do they cover holidays?
What if children are sick?

Nanny petrol and expenses costs?
Can you work whilst children at home?

I'm in Woking and for those hours I think a childminder would almost certainly work out as the cheapest option, if you can find one. The going rate is £5-£5.50/hour per child but that would obviously include all outings/activities and there would be no expenses/NI etc to pay. The trouble is it might be difficult to find someone with two spaces available as demand is quite high. Some don't work on Fridays and some charge a minimum of 7 or 8 hours a day so those two factors would limit your choice a bit.

i am in Guildford and i pay my nanny £9 gross for 50 hours a week. This is her first nannying job though so she is a bit cheaper than a nanny with previous experience.

Nanny share may be a good option for you.
