Erm, not that I am stalking you or nuffink, but Gooseegg doesn't appear to have posted for a month or so.
I would CAT her if I were you

looneytune · 30/09/2006 13:55

I know, I checked myself Can't CAT without paying for it . After reading the thread again (thanks for that ), I've decided to call the local Early Years team on Monday morning and see if they can help sort this out. Just thought I'd put a shout out for her just in case - you know, some people look but don't always post - you can live in hope!!

Thanks again

Hi - only just got back online today after a house move. What's up?

looneytune · 03/10/2006 14:24

Oh dear, everything So glad you are back. How on earth did you manage to speak to an inspector? See my threads about moving house and letter to ofsted - both at the top atm.

I hate OFSTED!!

How's your new place then? Happy it's all over?

Really happy its all over yes. I am NEVER moving house ever again.

Ofsted were snotty on the phone to me and wouldn't let me speak to anyone. They just kept banging on about how I HAD to first put everything in writing and that I should be reminded that I would NOT be able to childmind without a visit from an inspector.

I then phoned up my local childminding charity - the Devon Childminding Association - and they called one of their contacts in the Early Years Inspectorate Team locally who then called me back. She was lovely and said that as I had had a good report before and had had no complaints then yes I could carry on minding as long as I did my own risk assessments.

Once I moved I carried on minding and also phoned Ofsted straightaway to tell them I had moved.

I then had another phone call quite quickly from another local inspector who again was very friendly but who said that she needed to visit my premises asap despite what I had been told previously.

We arranged for her to come around the following day and she was lovely. Thorough but lovely.

My new certificate - with the new address - arrived almost by return post.

I expect you will find the same ie that your local inspectors will come around very quickly, by arrangement, to have a nose. Mine certainly seemed to understand my urgency and were a lot nicer that their telephone people at head office. Don't worry too much, but just be super thorough with your risk assessments and show them how professional you are. I am sure they will have visiting you on their priority list especially as they know you are intending to carry on with or without them.

It's worth it in the end.

Thanks for the info Gooseegg... it's amazing how the information you get from Ofsted seems to change depending on who you speak to! Sounds as through it all worked out well in the end, hope the same goes for looneytune and other childminders I know who are moving soon.
