Childminder for start and end of day - possible?

Hello

Do any childminders work just at the beginning of the day (ie for school drop off) and at end of day (pick ups)? I would also only need help 3 days a week as I work 3 days (although long days).

Do you think I'll be able to find anyone interested in this arrangement? Ds1 starts school next year and I'd like to stick to 3 full days in the office, but genuinely can't see how logistics will work at the minute! After school clubs round here probably not an option.

Yes, most childminders do this. Have a look at your local family information service website to see which childminders pick up from the school your child attends.

Yes, lots of childminders do this but at least in my area spaces are very limited and there just aren't enough to go around. There are generally only a few childminders per school and many of them already have their own school aged children in addition to school aged mindees that have been with them since they were babies. Sometimes the phones go a bit crazy with enquiries just after the school place results are published so it is definitely a good idea to start looking early. Smile

Yes I would do this, but I would possibly charge for full day! Make sure you ask local CM about their fees, some of my friends do just school runs so don't charge for full day but others do it differently x

Thank you, that's really helpful. I'd better start looking for next September!

I think any cm would do this, but you may be charged a full days rate as the extra child in the morning and evening would prevent the cm from having another young child all day.

My cm does 7.15-9 and 3.15-6 for me term time only too! I'm really lucky to have her. She mainly does before and after school places. I do pay more per hour than if she had dd all day though.
