English course for aupair

Hello all,

I am not sure where to post this question so please let me know if there is a better place...

I have a new aupair taht started last weekend and she wants to study English. Any advice on where to find affordable English courses for her? We live in Palmers Green but she woudl go around here or between here and Central London.

We are looking for a not very expensive course, preferably where she could meet other young people to help us adjust to London.

Thanks

Google EFL courses at your local FE colleges. They are most likely to be affordable and she would get a certificate if she completed it.

My geography of north London is a bit hazy but as an example. www.barnetsouthgate.ac.uk/international You'll need to get in quick though as courses are starting this week.

There is probably a Facebook page for local au pairs, her best bet is to go on there and ask for recommendations.

We're in a different area but our Spanish au pair has just signed up for a Cambridge English course at our local adult college. They offer three levels - PET, First and Advanced which are certificated. Usually very popular with au pairs.

Ours is using the english college in Islington and is happy with it. We chose it because it is young and vibrant and I wanted her to meet others like her and not find herself in a room with middle aged job seekers. She does 6 hours a week for about £31 which I think is reasonable

Southgate College would be your nearest. I've had 2 APs go there and they've enjoyed it and made lots of friends.

We've had severl APs, and all have studied English for free at the local college. Last AP left several years ago though, so courses may not be free any more.

Our APs go to South Thames college. Not geographically any good for you, but the cost of a terms tuition is about £200. The course started 2 weeks ago, so you better get in touch quickly!
