French Childminder Hanwell

Hello - we are moving to Hanwell and I am returning to work in January 2015 when my son will be one. All the French nurseries start at 2+ and I would like my son to be with more than one adult and with other children but cannot seem to find a French nursery/childminder in the area that will take him from one. I therefore thought about setting up my own French childminder - we would kit out a room in our new house for small children (0-3) and employ two good French nannies. We would also have a dedicated outdoor space aswell. I just wondered whether there is an appetite for this as if so, I will seriously look into it. The idea would be to have a group of max 5 little ones of similar age. I would prepare all the food (very healthy and organic) and would provide the kiddies with an outing each day. Please let me know if this is of interest as, as I say, I will seriously look into it if so!

Many thanks - Charlotte

You're talking about employing somebody else in that case that would be classed as childcare on domestic premises not childminder. Look into the set up cost regarding registration, insurance, relevant training for employees, wages etc as it will not be the same as childminder. You will also have to apply for planning permission from the council for change of building use and it's not cheap. I do not think it will be worth it tbh as you've already said there are French nurseries for children 2+ (unless they're all full with a long waiting list) and the market may be small as you'll only be attractive to those who have some French connections in one way or another. I would say best bet is to check out the capacity of the French nurseries you've mentioned and see if they have many vacancies.
