Nannying pay rates

Hi,

I am currently a nanny for a lovely 7 year old in the Buckinghamshire area. At the moment, I am live in with use of a nanny car and I am very happy with what I'm being paid.

Come November, due to the mums change in work I will be liveout and only doing school pick up until 7.30/8ish. However, I will also be looking after another child (who lives 2 doors away) the same hours after school. After speaking with the mum about this she has told me that I can still have use of the nanny car during the week to get to and from my house to do the school pick up. She has asked me to think of an hourly rate for this, as I'll be doing approx. 20 hours a week.

Can anyone give me some advice?! Really confused and not sure what to suggest, and googling has given me loads of different answers :(

Thanks in advance!

Can you find any similar jobs on listing sites like NannyJob.co.uk? Example of a live-out after-school job (Gerrards Cross) which is paying 10-12 Gross pre hour.

As you will also be caring for another unrelated child, then is it now a nannyshare where you will be caring for children from two families at the same time? A nanny share can be higher cost but gets split between the families.

After school in Bucks where I am near beaconsfield, is £10-12/hour net for after school care, so at least £12/net for a nanny share.

Housing here is VERY expensive, so I'd work out how much you need to live on and then see if its worth your while to change and do so few hours.

Further north and nearer MK salaries are not as high.

There are quite a few live-in jobs and they pay very well around here if you're happy to do a bit of housework too.

Hi,

Thank you for your replies! They have been very helpful. I think I've been a bit naive and thought 12ph was quite a lot. I've been nannying full time for this family for a couple of months so have become attached and didn't want it to seem as though I was ripping them off!
