I have been asked to work from Thursday through to Tuesday morning 24/7 , one little girl ( 14 months) who generally sleeps from 7-7 . I am a live out nanny for this family Mon - Thurs are my usually contracted days. Was just wondering if any of you helpful people could give me a rough guide to the going rate for Proxy Parenting. Am a bit out if touch as not done any for a while.. Many Thanks in advance ! Ps. Does anyone ever work the time in lieu ie have extra days off instead of being paid ?

Do you have an already negotiated rate for evening babysitting? If so, then that rate from usual finish time until Midnight, then a set fee for midnight to 7am, then usual daytime rate from 7am. So the Midnight-7am bit may be something like £40.

Yes I do time in lieu, often easiest when doing an extra full day as then take an additional day off the following week (or a the following week, depending when boss can cover the day). Total hours per month then stays the same.

Most agencies recommend£150/24hrs if that helps

I would charge your normal hourly rate 7am to 7 pm then maybe £50 for overnight if charge doesn't wake up.

Standard around here is £150 net per 24hrs as someone said.

Another way of going it is full pay for the children's waking hours and half pay for their sleeping hours.

They usually work out roughly the same anyway.
