Salary Expectation

I just wanted to get an idea of what's considered a reasonable hourly rate, as I've been asked how much I charge.

I'm nannying 7 - 7, sole charge of one seven year old in central London. I have professional nannying experience but no degree/qualifications in childcare. I graduated last summer, and am enjoying childcare as a means to earn some money before starting a masters.

I've been asked how much I charge, and I was thinking that £10 an hour seemed reasonable, but then for a 12 hour day my day rate would be £120 which seems like a lot... Opinions gratefully received.

Hate it when parents say "how much do you charge". It indicates to me that they do not fully understand how employing a nanny works.

Have a look at job adverts in your area, see what other jobs are offering.
£10 gross an hour sounds low to me for Central London. More like £12-£13 an hour I would suspect. Though amount of experience may be relevant, so if you have one year experience then you may want to accept a bit lower salary so you get the job and get several years experience.

I'm in N London and the standard mantra seems to be £10 per hour net(I hate this talking in net!) which, depending on hours, tax code etc is 12-13 gross
