My DS2 will be 16 soon. He has ASD and a couple of other problems, and has been at a special boarding school for the last few years. He will now be living with us full time, which is completely brilliant, as we have missed him so much while he's been away, he has a college place and a couple of extra curriculars set up for September.
DH and I work full time, we can often be out of the house for long hours and we would need some form of childcare for him after college. More to be a friend to him and maybe take him out places and the like, if that makes sense? DS has no behavioural issues as such, other than those of a slightly highly strung teen, so wouldn't warrant a 'specialist' and we have already been told that there's no way he would get any funding for extended hours type services, as he will, according to the way the CWD team works, be an adult!
I was thinking that an Au Pair might fit the bill. I know they are usually used with younger children, but would this be completely out of left field? They would have most of their days free, apart from maybe a little light housework and possibly looking after the dogs.
Anyway, what do you think? If not, do you have other suggestions?
Thanks
