Advice required - abuse witnessed by another nanny

My nanny was in Redcliffe Gardens yesterday morning (Earls Court) and saw another nanny slap and then violently twist the nose of a young boy of 2-3 years as a punishment. She came back home and asked me what she should do - obviously if this is happening in public then what happens behind closed doors is unimaginable.

For those who might know someone in the area, the boy seemed French ("Merci") and had shoulder length hair. The nanny was probably in her 30s, of African descent and was wearing black leggings.

Sorry for the vague request, but I find this quite galling and want to do something to help. I've been at a loss about what to recommend, short of keeping her phone camera locked and loaded for the next occasion.

If she doesn't know them then how did she know it was his nanny

Although whoever it was, it's not a nice way to treat a child.

She brought him to the garden, left with him and called him by name (although our group there didn't pay attention to that at the time).

I would strongly suggest you call the NSPCC helpline. This is exactly the sort of thing they are experts at dealing with. sorry, I'm on my phone so can't provide a link to the number.

It's hard to report abuse when you don't know who the child is or where they live

Agree something needs to be done but it's hard without any more info

Thanks - I'll speak to the NSPCC (perfect suggestion). I'll also ask our neighbours to keep an eye out.

Definitely call the NSPCC - that is a dreadful way to treat a child :(
