Nanny asking childminders question

Hello, you might have seen my other thread, 1 day nanny.
If a parent asked you to do before and after school and preschool care (2 children one at school and one preschool) for one day a week. What hours would you expect to be paid for? And how much? Do you often get asked to do this? (If you don't mind me asking)

I get asked to do this all the time. I no longer do before and after school, but when I did I would charge:

  • full day for pre school child
  • hours worked for before and after school child, with full days in holidays.
CMs charge per child, rather than per family (usually).

Thanks for that HSMM Smile

Me too - I concentrate on early years children and have dropped before and after school. Having said that, if I had an enquiry for one day per week I would charge

8-9 am 1 hour x 3 children = 15.75
9-3.30 6.5hrs x 1 child = 34.65
3.30-6pm x 3 children = 39.38 (adjust if earlier finish)
Total for the day would be £89.78

This would be pretty much the same cost for the family as paying a nanny £9 gross per hour - apart from expenses etc.

Forgot to say - if they wanted me in the holidays (which I don't do as I work term time only) it would be 10 hours @ £5.25 x 3 children.
