yes?
I imagine so, but just checking. We paid for her flight over and her flight home at Christmas

Sorry, perhaps not clear, I mean her final flight home, she stops working for us at the end of the summer.

Not a cheap flight, so will hurt the pocket, but am guessing it is the right thing to do.

And…. cancel entire thread, she is very sweet and has just told me she can get flight on air miles, so we are just paying for her train fare.
thanks and sorry to waste your time if you read this thread!

Why don't you pay for her train ticket and if you really like her also get a leaving gift she will love (depends on what she likes/enjoys). We brought one of our au pairs a necklace chosen by the kids (she was sentimental about jewellery and each piece she wore was given to her by friends and family) and another au pair really enjoyed comedy so in her last week we arranged for a surprise night out at the comedy store in London just as a thank you for all their work

This is normally something you and she would discuss before she arrives to work for you, not at the end. Some employers pay for flights, some don't but the aupair should be told up front what the deal is.

thanks Unexpected - we haven't had that kind of au pair, much more ad hoc - her choice.
anyway, all sorted now! Have given her lots of presents over the year and certainly wouldn't let her leave without one. Am doing a footprints canvas and framed picture of her with kids, plus bonus cash. I expect the canvas will be junked as soon as she forgets about us, but she is v hard to buy for -- no jewellery habits etc!
