just after a bit of advice really, everyone has to start somewhere but would like to know what everyone else did.
im trying to become a nanny/mothers help in Basingstoke
I work in a office wed-fri but am trying to find work mon and tues to gain experience while I do common core qualifications and then leave my office job and go full time.
I would need to bring my 1 yr old son with me,
I have started Ofsted Voluntary registration process as I believe most people prefer that, I have just sent off my DBS and am attending a paediatric first aid course later this month.

my questions are:
which courses should I do?
should I work for free in say a mothers help role to gain experience?

I have had a few parents contact me but they usually just wanted after/before school care or a day that conflicted with my other job.

I am meeting a parent on Monday who has 2 pre school kids who just wants the odd day here and there I think more of a babysitting role, so any advice on that would be great as well.
sorry to chime on forever but a bit clueless as to where to go now.

Do common core with someone like MNT, or have you got that already?

Parents may not want a nanny for just 2 days. It may take a while to find that.

Before/after school job may be a starting point but it may not be many hours, so look for ones which are 6+ hours a day.

Avoid anything where they want you to be self employed, adhoc babysitting. You need to find something which is nannying or perhaps nanny/housekeeper.

Think about what makes you a good candidate for the job, past experience such as in your teens, experience with own child.
