ofsted registration

It looks like we will be employing our au pair as a nanny, but we will need to ofsted register her for it to be affordable.

I've searched but a lot of the guidance is clear as mud.

Can anyone tell me where to find acceptable first aid and childcare courses in London for registration?

Also for a foreign national will a certificate of good conduct be sufficient, or will she need a DBS check as well?

Other than its just registration fee and insurance right?

Try BabyEm, MNT, those are two providers of training who I can think of who provide Common Core course and a First Aid course.

St.John Ambulance do a 12 hour paediatric course. It is suitable for childminder registration, so therefore is more than suitable for nannies.

Ofsted will do a DBS check as part of the registration, it has a separate fee, about £55 I think.

Insurance, have you found a provider who will do that? Some have minimum experience criteria, so shop around.
Morton Michel, Nanny Insure, HayesParsons, Pacey. Anyone know any other providers of nanny insurance?

Thank you. Is it a requirement to do the 12 hour first aid course (or is 6 sufficient?). I'm just asking as some places offer the 6 h course for ofsted registration.

The requirement details is in one of Ofsted's documents, it isn't about duration of the course but about what subject areas are covered.

If they have never done any first aid training, then a 12 hour course is probably going to be better, as will have more time for practical. I view the shorter courses as being a bit of a refresher.

It's so complicated isn't it Cindy? I have sent her links to the 12h course as I don't want to risk the 6h not being compliant. Thank you for the suggestions.
