Nanny "going rate" N London

Soggysandpit · 01/07/2014 09:16

My nanny has just told me that the "going rate" is 20% more than I pay her! I am pretty sure that I'm in the right ballpark, but would really appreciate it if anyone in London could share what they pay their nanny and whether that is gross or net.

Thanks in advance.

I live in N.london and am a nanny...I've been paid £10ph, £10.85ph and £12ph

£12 is heading towards the higher end of average and £10.85 is pretty average iygwim!

Gross btw

Soggysandpit · 01/07/2014 11:40

Thank you! She gets something like £12.50 ph gross, £10ph net so nice to know I'm not being stingy.

It depends on what area in London you are and experience. I've seen nanny jobs advertised with agencies recently for between £10-£14ph net with the higher end being in areas such as central, north or SW London.

£10 net is standard

OldCatLady · 03/07/2014 07:42

Agree £10 net is standard. Maybe more for particularly experienced nannies.

Soggysandpit · 03/07/2014 09:19

Thanks all. Looking at the figures it is £12.08 gross to give £10 net so nice to know I'm not way off the mark.

If you are anywhere near N1 old street and want to consider a change my SIL is a nanny who was made redundant while on ML which has just ended and looking for a new nanny job. She'd need to bring her 9 month old son but she is fabulous so PM me if you fancy
