Switching from FT nanny to after school... advice needed

We've had FT nanny for 8 years to take care of DS1 aged 8 and DS2 aged 4. DH and I both work FT too. Now kids are older and nanny is leaving to have own baby, considering moving to after school nanny. Any advice? We'd need cover if one of kids was ill during term time and during school holidays - is that even possible? Heard that after school nannies typically last 1 year max. Any tips for finding someone longer term? We live in London. Thanks so much for any help.

We do exist! I am currently looking for after school during term time and full time during the holidays. I have another income stream and am therefore flexible if children are ill as I don't need to take another job during the day. I seem to be in the minority though because I think a lot of after school nannies take the job because they need any job, and leave as soon as they find full time.

Given that there are fewer hours overall I think that a slightly higher hourly rate would attract a candidate looking specifically for this type of role. As for prospective longevity then I would advise asking questions at interview regarding what work they'd be doing outside of working for you, why they particularly enjoy working with school aged children etc.
