just had a dad phone a couple of days ago wanting care for his two girls aged 5mths and 2yrs so he came over today for a visit, filled in the forms etc
on mothers details he crossed it and wrote n/a
i asked him about this and he said his wife left with another man 3 mths ago and hasnt been in contact since
that means baby was 2 mths
anyway his hours are wierd he is going back to where he worked before for 20 hrs a week
3 days 7.30am-12.30pm and 2 days 3.30pm-8.30pm didnt really want to work so late but i feel really sorry for him
i've give him a discount too, i know i'm soft but ............

for what it's worth, i think that's a really kind, decent, humane thing to do. a good cm will make all the difference to him and his lo's. i hope it works out for you all.

Yes, of course it's no harder for men than women and until we treat them the same we're not going to have proper equality in the UK. not sure how any parent of either sex can abandon a 2 month year old!

agree but i think anyone who'd had a partner walk out on them and their children and was facing going back to work would be anxious about childcare (i know i am and i'm teamed up and stable in that department). someone being flexible when you're that stressed is a lifesaver, whatever sex any of the parties are!

(a different point but i have noticed people i'd have counted as pretty feminist being distinctly dodgy on the subject of women who leave their children. it's a real taboo isn't it? interestingly)

Good for you. I have cared for a child from a motherless household for the last 8 and a half years. I said I would give the 6.30am starts a trial for two weeks and 8 years later we are still doing them. Being flexible means everything to some people and the more of us who are make the world a better place for others who would struggle. If that makes sense.

makes perfect sence baby

best of luck dmo. that's a very kind thing to do and am sure will make your job even more fulfilling than it already is.
