ask them for 2 cheques next week so you're a week ahead? or maybe they can set up standing order? that's proof too isn't it?

lottiesmummy · 06/09/2006 14:37

I know yea, its just its all new and I dont want to upset them as they paying it at mo till WFTC backdate them and start paying, he's a single dad too, so bit tricky, but i have bills to pay too, this is only my 2nd week but want to get sorted asap thanks

I get my parents to pay directly into my bank account so I don't have to wait and they don't have to wait until I can get to the bank and think they have more money than they do IYSWIM

lottiesmummy · 06/09/2006 14:49

is that at beginning of the week though? in advance so to speak?

I have 2 families who claim wftc childcare (or whatever its called?) and I get paid by them monthly. I issue them with an invoice and then a receipt every month and they just keep them as proof of payment.
I think you ask them to pay by a more direct payment (cash, standing order/direct debit etc) or they must pay you 3-5 days earlier to allow cheque to clear.

Monthly in advance actually

alison222 · 06/09/2006 14:57

I should have siad I give them an invoice in advance at the end of the month ready for the next one. Any extra hours I add to the following month's bill

Lottiesmummy did you sort it out?

lottiesmummy · 11/09/2006 12:20

sort of, he's still paying in arrears though

If you don't have a deposit I would follow MrsBigD's advice & ask for 2 payments in one week, or if necessary spread one payment over 3 or more weeks to get ahead.

The problem with allowing people to pay in arrears is that if there are any problems (quitting without giving sufficient notice, taking days off/child sick & not wanting to pay etc) its much easier to decline a refund than it is to get the parent to pay you after the event.
